Upon enrollment and receipt of this lesson policy, the student and parent/guardian must agree to these terms and understand fully all rules in our studio.
Punctuality & Attendance
It is very important for students to arrive on time for their scheduled lessons. Lessons are scheduled back to back; therefore, we are unable to run into the next student’s lesson time. Consistent attendance is vital to success. With this in mind, please attend all scheduled lessons.
Tuition & Payment
All lessons are $155.00 per month for one half hour lesson (30 minutes) a week or $290 per month for one hour lesson (60 minutes) a week. A discounted rate will apply for families with two or more students per month, or students that take more than one lesson per month. That discounted rate is $135 for every additional half hour lesson and $270 for every additional one hour lesson. If there are five (5) weeks in one month, tuition will remain the same, however, no rescheduling, make-ups, or pro-rates will be given for that fifth lesson. For incomplete months, meaning a student attended less than their regular weekly lesson amount, the per lesson rate is $39. There are no discounts for the per lesson rate.
Acceptable forms of payment are cash, personal check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and AmEx). For convenience, we also have an auto-pay system available, please ask the front desk to sign up. There will be a $20.00 charge added to all returned checks. Make all Checks payable to Resonance School of Music, LLC. There will be a $10.00 surcharge for anyone who is late past the 15th of each month and an additional $25 surcharge for anyone who is late past the end of the month. Lessons will not be given if tuition is not prepaid.
Cancellations
We require a 24-hour minimum cancellation notice. Voicemail is always on, including weekends to take calls for Monday. If 24-hour notice of cancellation is not given, the student forfeits the lesson, and will be charged. Canceling or missing a lesson does not reduce or delay payment. No-shows will not be made up under any circumstances. If the instructor must cancel a lesson, a make-up will be given, or credit will be applied to the account.
Absences
A same-day excused absence is illness of the student or an extreme family emergency. The Front Desk must be informed before 12 pm for same-day absences. For families with more than one student, only the student who is ill will be excused. Should school be closed, our studios will likely still be open. If there is any doubt, please call ahead to verify. Students are required to give two-week notice when they take a vacation. All planned absences should be given to the front desk, not the instructors. Absences given to the instructor, but not the front desk, will not be excused and will be charged to the student’s account. In person registration and bill payments, and/or advanced absences can be made by phone or in person at the desk only!
Make-ups
If there is more than one absence in a calendar month, make-ups will be arranged if time and space permit; however, the instructor is not obligated. All make-ups must be done in the same month as the absence. Make up Days will be provided on first come first serve basis. There are no “make-ups of make-ups”. If the student misses the make-up lesson, the lesson is forfeited. No refunds will be issued for student’s absences; however, a credit will be issued for a teacher absence.
Loss of Spot
Irregular attendance or patterns of absences may result in the loss of the student’s permanent spot. If a student is constantly late or frequently changes their lesson time, this negatively affects our teachers’ workload. We retain the right to decide to no longer teach any student. We cannot guarantee the student’s spot after returning from an extended absence, i.e. summer. If the student makes specific arrangements in agreement with the instructor and the management, we will hold that spot. Otherwise, the student will be placed to the best of our ability upon their return.
Termination & Refunds
Although make-up lessons are provided (as stated above), credits or refunds are not given for missed lessons. If the student decides to discontinue lessons prior to the completion of the month, no refunds will be given for lessons not taken.
Practice
Daily practice is essential to learning any instrument. The family will need to establish a daily routine for the student that includes practice. At each lesson, the teacher will clearly explain the student’s practicing assignments for that week. The teacher will write the assignments in a book. The student is expected to complete the assignments by the next lesson. Parental help may be required if the student is too young to read.
Recitals
Recitals are twice a year. This is a proof of progress, and a healthy way for students to share what they have learned and for all involved to encourage each other. Students up to the age of 18 are required to participate in at least one recital per year. Adults are not required, though strongly encouraged.
Behavior
All students MUST follow all rules of etiquette while on our premises.
1. Treat Everyone; Students, Teachers, Guests, et al. with only the utmost respect. Everyone is here to learn and make music, distractions towards other studios will not be tolerated.
