Elinor Reitz
Elinor Reitz is a vocalist and pianist, but a lover of music making first. She was born and raised in the Philadelphia region and now seeks to share her love of music with the South Jersey community! She attended Temple University’s Boyer School of Music and Dance from 2016 to 2020 to study music education with a focus on classical voice under the direction of Dr. Hoejin Sim. She is on track to complete her Master’s of Music Education at Rowan University in the spring of 2026. In high school, she enrolled in a summer music experience at the University of the Arts that led to voice lessons under Nicole Tranquillo that prepared her for the necessary auditions her senior year. Her teaching experience began as early as middle and high school in her home church’s summer camp ministries, accompanying the children’s choir, and co-teaching early music classes. Through her career at Temple, she has performed at the Kimmel Center through choral concerts, prepared a senior recital with varied repertoire, created meaningful moments in the early music ensemble on recorder and voice, and honed her skills through various methods courses. She spent five years post-graduation teaching general music in the School District of Philadelphia, utilizing percussion instruments, ukulele, and piano for holistic instruction for movement, theory, and joy!
Elinor has played piano since childhood. She studied with Eloise Wisneski at The Christian Academy in Brookhaven, PA, from ages 6 to 18. She is a classically trained pianist who sees the good in utilizing method books and theory, whilst integrating a student’s favorite genres or songs into lessons! Elinor’s practical teaching experiences come from pre-service externship and student teaching, pre-service choral ensemble teaching, five years of elementary music teaching, and small group lessons at summer camps. She hopes that music lessons are engaging, enjoyable, and instill a lifelong love for making music, no matter the avenue of musicking.
Some of Elinor’s favorite genres to perform are jazz, soul, folk, indie, classical, and musical theatre. She enjoys performing in her church’s seasonal choir and worship team. Her favorite musicals of the moment are Epic, Hadestown, Fiddler on the Roof, and Six.
Elinor is grateful to Resonance for the opportunity to teach and share her love of music through voice and piano.
